9.2.3 O-Ring Boss Hydraulic Fittings – Adjustable
The standard torque values are provided for adjustable hydraulic fittings. If a procedure specifies a different torque value
for the same type and size of fitting found in this topic, refer to the value specified in the procedure instead.
1. Inspect O-ring (A) and seat (B) for dirt or defects.
2. Back off lock nut (C) as far as possible. Ensure that
washer (D) is loose and that it is pushed toward lock nut (C)
as far as possible.
3. Ensure that O-ring (A) is NOT on the threads. Adjust
O-ring (A) if necessary.
4. Apply hydraulic system oil to O-ring (A).
5. Install fitting (B) into the port until backup washer (D) and
O-ring (A) contact part face (E).
6. Position the angle fittings by unscrewing no more than
one turn.
7. Turn lock nut (C) down to washer (D) and tighten it to the
torque value indicated in the table. Use two wrenches, one
on fitting (B) and the other on lock nut (C).
8. Verify the final condition of the fitting.
