Installing or converting to an S8500 LSP

For the conversion scenario, this procedure assumes that service provided by the

S8500 is therefore placed out of service and reinstalled as an LSP. For more

To install a new S8500 LSP or convert an existing S8500 primary controller to an LSP server,
perform the following tasks:

Installing the hardware (new installation only)

Connecting the laptop and turning on the media server
4.
Configuring the SNMP modules in the UPS
5.
Configuring the SNMP subagent in the Avaya Ethernet switch
6.
Disabling the boot timeout of the SAMP board (S8500B upgrade only)
7.
Installing Avaya Communication Manager
8.
Configuring the S8500 LSP
9.
Configuring the RMB
10.
Installing SAMP software update, if necessary
11.
Configuring the modem
12.
Administering the new primary controller
13.
Enable license server capability on a media gateway, if necessary
14.
Install and verify the license on the new LSP
15.
Opening the TCP ports on the S8500 LSP
16.
Connect the new S8500 LSP to the LAN/WAN
17.
Reset the S8500 LSP
18.
Verify that the primary controller identifies the new LSP and has sent the translations
