4.5.3
The safety systems in the vehicle are intended to reduce the number accidents and
the severity of injuries caused to vehicle passengers and other road users.
Modifications of the safety systems in the vehicle are strictly prohibited, since they
can cause these systems to malfunction if an accident occurs.
In particular, caution must be exercised when carrying out any interventions that
might affect the seats, the anchors and tensioners of the seat belts, the front area
of the vehicle, the doors or the airbag system.
Any change in a vehicle safety system or any of its components might undermine
the protection of the passengers and carry penalties under current regulations.
The driver and passenger airbags and tensioners seat belts tensioners are consid-
ered pyrotechnic. Only qualified personnel are authorised to proceed with the
transport, storage and assembly and disassembly according to the laws and regu-
lations that exist for that purpose.

WARNING
NOTICE
The performance of any kind of modification to the different airbag compo-
nents or any of its sensors is prohibited.
New installations in the vehicle interior must not obstruct the perfect perform-
ance of the airbags. Sufficient space must be left to permit the full and unim-
peded inflation of the airbags.
It is not possible to cut the cab roof or the supporting elements of the cab in
vehicles that incorporate side-impact or window airbags.
Doors or other elements of the body where the airbag sensors are installed
must not be modified.
The control unit of the airbags should not be operated in any way, its position
changed, or fixed by any other means than those used in the standard vehicles.
The installation of equipment that could cause vibrations or the modification of
areas of vehicles in the vicinity of the airbag control unit or sensors are also
forbidden, because this could influence the reaction time of the airbags.
Do not install any electrical equipment near the Airbag Control Unit, since this
can cause a magnetic field that might deploy the airbag.
Any part that has been damaged or dropped on the floor must be replaced by a
new part.
Do not place stickers or liners above the steering wheel.
Do not expose the Airbag Control Unit to temperatures above 90° C.
