PRELIMINAR STUDIES AND CONSIDERATIONS
MOUNTING AND CONSTRUCTION

Keep in mind the requirements and recommendations when performing drilling
and welding work on the vehicle. It must also be protected against corrosion.
Changing roof height
HMC provides several standard roof heights with the intention to adapt its range to
meet the most varied needs or situations. If none of the supplied sizes is consistent
with the requirements for use of the vehicle, the roof height may be modified, but
only ever with the consent of HMC.
When changing the roof height, some considerations should be taken into account:
-
-
It is the responsibility of the Body Builder to ensure the strength and stiffness of
the new configuration of the vehicle after the modifications.

POWER TAKE-OFF
A check should be carried out to ensure that, after the modifications, the max-
imum axle load and position of the centre of gravity are within permitted the
limits. This could cause the VDC (Vehicle Dynamic Control system) to malfunc-
tion.
See chapter 2.3.3 "Weight distribution".
See chapter 2.3.4 "Centre of Gravity (CoG)".
The main vehicle dimensions must be respected.
See chapter 2.3.2 "Vehicle main dimensions".
NOTICE
See chapter 4.1 "Prevention and recommendations".
See chapter 2.2 "Range of vehicles supplied by HYUNDAI".
When increasing the height of the roof, the BB should consider installing a sta-
biliser bar on the front axle to minimise dishing that could occur in the vehicle if
it is subjected to centrifugal forces, typically in curves.
When changing the height of the roof, the roof cross beams are removed. Upon
completion the work, the roof cross beams should be returned to their original
positions. If it is not possible to reinstall the cross-beams in their original posi-
tions, they should be placed elsewhere; the number of cross-beams must be
increased if necessary.
NOTICE
See chapter 4.3.8 "Structure".
