5.4.12 Aerial platforms

General considerations
Aerial platforms can be found in many different versions, with different load capac-
ities, height reached and movements. Therefore, before installing an aerial platform
it must be checked, to see whether it is suitable for the vehicle model chosen.

For aerial platforms, the maximum permissible length of the rear overhang is of par-
ticular importance.
The Body Builder must check that the main dimensions of the final vehicle are within
the permissible limits.
An aerial platform can be mounted in a panel van as well as in a chassis cab. Before
starting the conversion work on the vehicle, it is recommended that the free space
for mounting should be verified, and a complete plan for proper installation of the
aerial platform made.
