POWER TAKE-OFF
Always keep in mind the manufacturer's rules for assembling the propeller
shafts.
The new shafts should be installed in the same way as the original ones were.
The diameter and thickness of the pipe must be the same. The material should
also be of the same quality.
Working angles should be equal in both joints. (β1 = β2).
Working angles (β) should never exceed 3° (static condition) of inclination or be
smaller than 0.5°. With different angles, vibration would occur, and the system
would not work properly.
Shafts must be balanced before assembly.
Take into account the maximum permissible length of the new shaft, which
depends of the diameter and the number of revolutions. A longer distance
would produce swaying and damage to the system.
If the maximum permissible length of the shaft does not reach the required
length, one or more intermediate shafts will be necessary. They should be sup-
ported by bearings with the appropriate brackets to the chassis frame.
