INTRODUCTION PRELIMINAR STUDIES AND CONSIDERATIONS
MOUNTING AND CONSTRUCTION
The auxiliary battery is located inside the engine compartment, on the left-hand
side.
Be careful not to damage other parts of the vehicle when handling the auxiliary
battery.
If AMG batteries are used and have to be changed, they must be replaced by same
kind of AGM battery (type, capacity and even brand) originally installed.
Never open the AGM battery. Batteries are filled with high pressure gas. This can
destroy clothing and burn the skin.

Sometimes it is necessary to add an extra battery to the vehicle, if the original bat-
tery (batteries) from factory cannot supply enough energy to all new electrical or
electronic equipment installed in the vehicle.
The installation of an extra battery in vehicles in which ISG (Idle Stop and Go) and
AMS (Alternator Management System) systems are installed is not recommended.
It should be fixed by suitable supports, making sure not to subject the chassis to
high stress. Care should also be taken to ensure that it is attached securely, since
otherwise it will be exposed to severe vibration; this will reduce its working life, and
could even could break the casing and allow the electrolyte to escape.
The extra battery must be grounded using proper wire section, which must be as
short as possible. The connection should also be made through the appropriate fuse
and cut-off relay.
An important point to consider is whether the original alternator of the basic vehicle
has enough capacity to provide energy to all the batteries that make up the system.
The Body Builder is not allowed to connect to the basic vehicle an extra battery with
an electrical capacity higher than that of the original battery installed from factory.
A battery with a higher electrical capacity could produce current/voltage peaks,
which could harm the equipment, fuses and other electrical and electronic com-
ponents installed in the basic vehicle.
The extra battery must be the same type as the principal battery.
