We do not recommend making modifications to the engine intake system. If the
changes are strictly necessary, HMC should be contacted, to obtain a certificate of
conformity. The effect on the engine operation and fuel consumption must be de-
termined.

Air inlets must not be altered by reducing their section. These are calculated to
meet the performance of the standard engines installed in each case.
The air inlets should be installed in a position where the minimum possible water
and dust are absorbed.
Do not modify or change the air filter.
Do not change the position of the humidity sensor.
The air intake must be protected from the emission of hot air from other com-
ponents that are installed in the vehicle.
The shield guards to protect against the aspiration of cigarette butts and other
sediments must not be replaced or removed.
Once the work has been carried out, it will be necessary to measure the back
pressures in the intake system, to ensure that they are within the permissible
limits.
The inlet air ducts must be kept clear, and the filters must be changed accord-
ing to the technical sheet of the vehicle.
