INTRODUCTION
PRELIMINAR STUDIES AND CONSIDERATIONS
MOUNTING AND CONSTRUCTION
Indicator lamps
The vehicles are equipped as standard with indicator lamps. The Body Builder must
adjust the width of these lamps according to the body mounted on the chassis
frame, and always try to ensure that their height is in compliance with that indicated
in the standard in force.
The indicator lamps must always be of an even number and positioned symmetrically
along the longitudinal plane of symmetry of the vehicle and as close to its outer
edges as possible. Their position will be fixed. They should be visible from the front
and rear of the vehicle and, if necessary, also from the side, both day and night.
Brake lights
From 01.11.2013 a third brake light is mandatory for M1 and N1 vehicles with a
closed body.
The third brake light is snigle, and may be located on either the inside or outside of
the vehicle. It must be placed in the middle of the longitudinal plane of the rear win-
dow and higher than the two normal brake lights.
Marker lamps
The side marker lamps are used to indicate the presence of the vehicle when viewed
from the side.
In order to increase security, European legislation stipulates that all vehicles with a
total longitude of 6 m or more must install side marker lamps (Directive ECE-R 48).
When installing the upper body on 6M chassis cab, which is only equipped with
reflector lamps, marker lamps must be installed at the factory.
In motor vehicles, the minimum is two lamps on each side, and in trailers and semi-
trailers, the number is given as a function of the total length. They must be located
on the side of the vehicle, and uniformly distributed.
Moreover, the end-outline lamps are installed as close as possible to the highest
outer edge of the vehicle and are intended to indicate clearly the overall width of
the vehicle.
They are mandatory for vehicles exceeding 2.10 m wide and optional for widths be-
tween 1.80 m and 2.10 m.
