5.4.11 Special service vehicles

In this section includes vehicles that perform a special service, such as rescue ve-
hicles, snow removal vehicles, vehicles for municipal use (e.g. street cleaning vehi-
cles).

The bodies of this type of vehicles are often rigid or very rigid to torsion stresses.
For this reason, the use of a more flexible connection is recommended for the first
fixation point behind the cab (connection type F_3).
It may also be advisable to use a rigid connection, type R_1, in the area above the
rear axle.
If required, the subframe can be reinforced at the rear by fitting a diagonal cross
or by making a box section.
Sometimes, it might be necessary to reduce the rear overhang, because of the great
stresses produced in this area.
There are often special rules and requirements for this type of vehicle. Specific reg-
ulations must be complied with, depending on the country for which approval is
sought
- Permission for the construction of such vehicles must be obtained from HMC.
- For the installation of groups such as winches, snow plough devices, hydraulic
