INTRODUCTION
PRELIMINAR STUDIES AND CONSIDERATIONS
MOUNTING AND CONSTRUCTION
Centre axle trailer
A centre axle trailer is a trailer with a group of axles, in which the union with the
tractor unit is effected by a spear rigidly attached to the trailer. Also, depending on
the type of construction, the tractor unit does not support the weight of the trailer
or any significant part of it.
WARNING
When designing the superstructure, the possibility of heavy loads on the rear side
of the vehicle should be avoided.
Likewise, it is important to reduce the support loads transmitted by the trailer to
the minimum possible, since otherwise it would be difficult to observe the mini-
mum load on the vehicle's front axle, which would cause a lack of
manoeuverability and the possible loss of control of the vehicle.
NOTICE
The minimum load on the front axle must be observed.
To know more about the minimum load on the vehicle front axle:
See Chapter 2.3.3 "Weight distribution".
To mount a towing hook, the use of the drawbar cross member supplied by HMC is
recommend; this incorporates the drills necessary, depending on the type of cou-
pling device installed. These drills should not be modified to install any device other
than the one planned.
