INTRODUCTION

MOUNTING AND CONSTRUCTION
To find the centre of gravity, the vehicle must first be weighed, once the conver-
sion work has been completed. This weighing should be done under certain condi-
tions:

It is recommended that the weighing process should be carried out a minimum of
three times. A weighted average is worked out using the values obtained, and
these results are used to calculate the Centre of Gravity.
It is also recommended that the wheelbase of the vehicle should be measured
manually, as it may be subject to tolerances.
With the data obtained in the weighing process (after taking the average value of
several measurements), the coordinates of the centre of gravity of the vehicle are
then calculated.

POWER TAKE-OFF
The basic vehicle, the body and all installed equipment must be weighed, but
without the payload.
Tyres should be inflated to the pressure recommended by the manufacturer.

A check must be carried out to ensure that all fluid reservoirs - oil, water, etc. -
are filled to recommended levels.
The vehicle must be in a horizontal position, and on a flat and even surface.
The vehicle must be secured with wedges.
It must check that the weighing scales are in good condition and properly cali-
brated.
First, each axle must be weighed separately, and then the complete vehicle, in
order to check the values obtained.
The gearbox is to be in neutral.
