MOUNTING AND CONSTRUCTION
Safety belts
The use of seat belts is mandatory in all vehicles. Safety belts and their anchorage
points are included in the component parts at the time of approving the vehicle, and
because of this, they cannot be modified or manipulated. Otherwise the vehicle reg-
istration certificate would be lost.
It is not possible to make any modifications to the vehicle seat belts. Special atten-
tion must be paid to the following recommendations:

4.5.4
For reasons of health and comfort, there should be fresh air in the enclosure for
passengers. The ventilation system facilitates the renewal of air inside the vehicle.
Steps should therefore be taken to ensure the maintenance of the airflow neces-
sary to maintaining a suitable environment.
In addition to providing comfort, ventilation systems are also a safety component,
because they ensure visibility on rainy days. After changes to the vehicle have been
effected, checks must be carried out to ensure that the defrosting and demisting
devices that allow the driver to see the road clearly have not been affected and are
working properly.

POWER TAKE-OFF
The points of attachment of safety belts cannot be modified. Special care must
be taken not to undermine the bearing capacity of the structural elements to
which the safety belts are anchored, since excessive deformation of these ele-
ments could hinder the proper operation of safety belts. Structural elements
that have been cut in the vicinity of the anchor points of the seat belts must be
suitably reinforced.
The rules on safety belts ECE Regulations R14, R16 and R17 must be respected,
as must Directive 2005/40/EC and Directive 2005/41/EC. The regulations and
laws of each country should also be considered.
If seats are added, only belts supplied or approved by HMC should be installed.
