POWER TAKE-OFF
Some noise and vibration tests must be carried out, to check that these are not
excessive, since high values could be due to poor installation of the system. In
this case, the PTO must be removed and re-fitted properly.
Also check for tightness, making sure there are no leaks in the system, both
with the vehicle stationary and with the PTO fully operational.
In order to prolong the life of the system, it is important that the hoses and
electrical cables are fixed properly, to avoid tem being subjected to unneces-
sary wear or movements.
Check for loose screws, which could cause damage to the PTO and to the vehi-
cle. Check that screws have the proper torque, according to the manufacturer's
instructions.
All mechanical, pneumatic or hydraulic devices should be reviewed before
operating the PTO. Check that the hydraulic system is clean before filling it with
the recommended oil.
All slots or joints should be properly lubricated. This reduces vibration and
therefore the wear of the elements that form the cinematic chain of the PTO.
