7.2.3

Fuse features

All wires installed in the vehicle shall be protected by a fuse. This fuse should fit the
section of the wire.
If wire and fuse size do not match, the result could be short-circuit or overcurrent,
either of which could burn out the wire. The fuse should protect only separate pow-
er lines, so if a failure occurs in one of them, the rest can keep running without any
problem. It is recommended that the fuse should be connected as close to the con-
sumption point as possible.
WARNING
- Never replace a fuse with anything but another fuse of the same rating.
- Never install a wire or aluminum foil instead of the proper fuse. It may cause
extensive wiring damage and a possible fire.
7.2.4

Wiring process

If modifications are made to the chassis of the basic vehicle, such as wheelbase or
overhang modification, etc. or if new components are installed on the vehicle, it is
necessary to modify the electrical lines installed in the vehicle, or install new lines.
In such cases, there are rules which must carefully followed:
NOTICE
- HMC recommends using parts supplied or authorised by HMC when modifying
the electrical system of the vehicle. If, for any reason, these parts are not
properly adjusted to the necessary changes, other parts may be used, provided
the guidelines specified in this manual are followed.
- For information about the types and sizes of wires to be used:
See Chapter 7.2.2 "Wire features".
-
Wires with the features recommended by HMC should always be used.
See chapter 7.2.2 "Wire features".
-
It is recommend that wires and connections with colours and codes similar to
those used in the original vehicle should be used. This allows a more precise
installation, facilitating eventual repair operations.
-
Always pass wires along rear bodies, frames, etc. and do not let them hang free
in the air.
