2.3.9

Noise insulation

An important factor to consider is the level of noise produced by the vehicle. The
original vehicles supplied by HMC comply with the European homologation for
acoustic insulation.
For all modifications to the vehicle which could cause an alteration in noise levels,
e.g. changing tyres, engine or exhaust system modifications, etc. care must be taken
to ensure that the noise produced is within the limits allowed by law.
Both exterior and interior noise in the passenger compartment of the vehicle should
be taken into account. The following standards should be considered:
-
DIRECTIVE 2007/34/EC
tation to technical progress, Council Directive 70/157/EEC concerning the per
missible sound level and the exhaust system of motor vehicles.
-
DIRECTIVE 70/157/EEC
the Member States relating to the permissible sound level and the exhaust sys
tem of motor vehicles.
-
REGULATION No. R51
vehicles having at least four wheels with regard to their noise emissions.
-
Regulations and legislation in force in each country.
NOTICE
Original sound insulation systems such as sound absorbing panels should not be
dismantled. If, for various reasons, these should be modified or removed, it will be
the responsibility of the BB to ensure that the final level of noise emissions does
not exceed the maximum established by law. Materials with at least the same
sound quality and the same fire resistance properties should be used.
For more information on noise considerations due to the modifications inside the
vehicle,
see chapter 4.5.2 "Noise insulation".
