(b) Remove the shift lever housing set bolt and lock
washer.
(c) Remove the shift lever shaft and housing.
(d) Remove the eight bolts.
(e) Using a plastic hammer, remove the transfer adapter.
NOTE: Leave the gasket attached to the intermediate
plate.
5. REMOVE FRONT BEARING RETAINER AND TWO BEAR-
ING SNAP RINGS
6. SEPARATE INTERMEDIATE PLATE FROM
TRANSMISSION CASE
(a) Using a plastic hammer, carefully tap off the trans-
mission case.
(b) Remove the transmission case from the intermediate
plate.
