Honda S Matic System INITIAL
SETTING PROCEDURE
• If any of the following services (the procedures
which could alter the relative position of the
movable drive face position sensor and the mov-
able drive pulley assembly) have been per-
formed, Honda S Matic System initialization is
required.
– Drive belt replacement (page 11-18)
– PCM replacement (page 6-102)
– Movable drive face position sensor removal/
installation
– Movable drive face position sensor shaft
removal/installation (page 24-54)
– Reduction gear removal/installation (page 24-
54)
– Movable

• Before initializing the Honda S Matic System,
inspect the battery voltage (page 19-7). make
sure that the battery voltage is normal.
• Before initializing the Honda S Matic System,
warm up the engine.
• Be careful when initializing the Honda S Matic
System. The rear wheel rotates in varied speed
during initialization process.
1. Turn the ignition switch OFF and release the
parking brake.
2. Place the scooter on its center stand and remove
the battery cover (page 19-6).
3. Short the DLC connector terminals using a spe-
cial tool.
TOOL:
SCS connector
Turn the engine stop switch " ".
4. Turn the ignition switch ON while pressing the
shift button (–).
