REAR BRAKE PADS
Check the brake pads for wear.
Replace the brake pads if either pad reaches the bot-
tom of wear limit groove.
For the rear brake pad replacement (page 17-15)
Always replace the
brake pads as a set
to assure even disc
pressure.

BRAKE SYSTEM

HYDRAULIC SYSTEM INSPECTION
Firmly apply each brake lever, and check that no air
has entered the system.
If the lever feels soft or spongy when operated,
bleed the air from the system (page 17-7).
Inspect the brake hoses and fittings for deteriora-
tion, cracks, damage or signs of leakage.
Tighten any loose fittings to the specified torque.
TORQUE:
Brake pipe joint nut:
14 N·m (1.4 kgf·m, 10 lbf·ft)
Brake hose oil bolt:
34 N·m (3.5 kgf·m, 25 lbf·ft)
Replace hoses and fittings as required.
CBS INSPECTION
This model is equipped with a CBS.
Check the rear brake operation as follows.
Support the scooter on its center stand.
Jack up the scooter to raise the front wheel off the
ground.
Apply the left brake lever.
