STARTER RELAY SWITCH
OPERATION INSPECTION
Remove the battery band (page 19-6).
Retract the sidestand and support the scooter on its
center stand.
Turn the ignition switch ON and engine stop switch
" ".
Squeeze the left brake lever fully and push the
starter switch.
The coil is normal if the starter relay clicks.
If you don't hear the relay "CLICK", inspect the
starter relay switch circuit inspection (page 21-15).
If you here the relay "CLICK", but starter does not
turn, inspect the starter relay continuity (page 21-
16).
CIRCUIT INSPECTION
GROUND LINE
Turn the ignition switch OFF.
Retract the sidestand and support the scooter on its
center stand.
Disconnect the starter relay switch 4P (Red) connec-
tor.
Check for continuity between the starter relay 4P
connector of the wire side and ground.
CONNECTION: Green/white – Ground (–)
If there is continuity when the sidestand switch is
retracted, the ground circuit is normal.
If there is no continuity when the sidestand switch is
retracted, open circuit in wires between the starter
relay and sidestand switch.
POWER INPUT LINE
Retract the sidestand and support the scooter on its
center stand.
Turn the ignition switch ON and engine stop switch
" ".
Squeeze the left brake lever fully and starter switch
pushed then measure the voltage between the
starter relay switch 4P connector with connector
connected and ground.
CONNECTION: Yellow/red (+) – Ground (–)
If the battery voltage appears only when the starter
switch is pushed, the circuit is normal.
If no voltage appears only when the starter switch is
pushed, open circuit in wires between the battery
and starter relay.
