ELECTRIC STARTER

TROUBLESHOOTING

Starter motor does not turn
1. Fuse Inspection
Check for blown MAIN B fuse (15 A) or ECU, IGN fuse (10 A).
Is the fuse blown?
YES
NO
2. Battery Inspection
Make sure the battery is fully charged and in good condition.
Is the battery in good condition?
YES
NO
3. Starter Relay Switch Operation
Turn the ignition switch ON and engine stop switch to " ".
Squeeze the rear brake lever fully and push the starter switch.
You should hear the relay "CLICK" when the starter switch is depressed.
Is there "CLICK"?
YES
NO
4. Starter Motor Inspection
Turn the ignition switch OFF.
Apply battery voltage to the starter motor directly and check the operation.
Dose the starter motor turn?
YES
NO
5. Starter Relay Coil Ground Wire Lines Inspection
Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the starter relay 4P (Red) connector.
Check the for continuity between the starter relay 4P connector and ground.
CONNECTION: Green/white – Ground
Is there continuity?
YES
NO

– Replace the fuse.
– GO TO STEP 2.
– GO TO STEP 3.
– Charge or replace the battery.
– GO TO STEP 4.
– GO TO STEP 5.
– • Loose or poorly connected starter motor cable.
• Inspect the starter relay switch (page 21-16).
– Faulty the starter motor (page 21-6)
– GO TO STEP 6.
– • Inspect the sidestand switch (page 22-33).
• Loose or poorly contact connector.
• Open circuit in wires between the starter relay and sidestand switch.
