CRANKCASE/CRANKSHAFT/BALANCER
Press the main journal bearings toward the inside of
the crankcase.
Measure and record the crankcase main journal I.D.
Be careful not to

SERVICE LIMIT: 45.060 mm (1.7740 in)
OIL PASSAGE CLEANING
Remove the right/left crankcase socket bolts and
sealing washer.
Clean the oil passages with compressed air.
Clean the right/left crankcase socket bolt threads
and apply locking agent (coating width 6.5 ± 1.0 mm
(0.26 ± 0.04 in) from the tip of exclude 2.0 – 3.0 mm
(0.08 – 0.12 in)).
Install and tighten the right/left crankcase socket
bolts to the specified torque with new sealing
washer.
TORQUE: 23 N·m (2.3 kgf·m, 17 lbf·ft)
BEARING SELECTION
Depending upon the results of the measurements
(page 14-11) there are four possible scenarios for
main bearing selection:
• Crankshaft and crankcase are replaced
• Crankcase only is replaced
• Crankshaft only is replaced
• Main journal bearings only are replaced
Carefully refer to the following instructions and
tables for main bearing selection.
Record the bearing support I.D. code letter.
Letters A or B on each crankcase is bearing support
I.D. code.
