Risk of injury
On the front-passenger seat, only use child
restraint systems with automatic child seat
recognition which are recommended for
Mercedes-Benz. You can obtain information
about this from any Mercedes-Benz Service
Centre.
If a rearward-facing child restraint system is
used on the front-passenger seat, it must be
a special Mercedes-Benz rearward-facing
child seat with automatic child seat recogni-
tion.
42
If any other type of rearward-facing child re-
straint system is used on the front-passen-
ger seat, the front-passenger airbag is not
deactivated and the child could be seriously
or fatally injured by the inflating airbag. To
draw attention to this danger, there is an ap-
propriate warning sticker on the dashboard
as well as on both sides of the sun visor on
the passenger side.
If a forward-facing child restraint system
without automatic child seat recognition is
used on the front-passenger seat, make
sure the front-passenger seat is moved to its
rearmost position.
Do not leave children unsupervised in the
vehicle, even if they are secured in a child
restraint system.
They would be unable to rescue them-
selves if danger threatened, e.g. exces-
sive heat.
They could be injured on moving parts in
the vehicle, e.g. seats.
They could open the doors and thereby
endanger themselves and others.
Do not place any objects under the child
restraint system, e.g. a cushion. The entire
base of the child restraint system must al-
ways be resting on the vehicle seat cushion.
An incorrectly fitted child restraint system
cannot perform its protective function in the
event of an accident, and could even lead to
injuries.
