Due to the extensive detection range of the
sensors, there is a possibility that Park Assist
may also detect the following obstacles and is-
sue a warning:

objects in the ground, e.g. manhole covers,
rails, road bumps or gutters
objects moving upwards rapidly, e.g. rolling
service doors

Pay particular attention to objects above or
below the sensors when parking, such as flower
pots, a higher mounted cross bar or a trailer tow-
bar. Park Assist does not detect such objects
when they are in the immediate vicinity of the ve-
hicle. You could damage the vehicle or the ob-
jects.

The Park Assist sensors are integrated in
the front and rear bumpers. Make sure that the
bumper is free of dirt, ice or slush in the area of
the sensor, otherwise Park Assist may not func-
tion correctly ( page 397).
Warning displays
The warning displays show the distance
between the sensor and the obstacle. The
warning display for the front area is in the
instrument cluster. The warning display for
the rear area is at the rear in the roof trim.
