Active light function
For the Active light function, the dipped-
beam headlamps swivel horizontally. The
angle is adjusted in accordance with the
current driving situation.
i
The active light function is not active when
the vehicle is stationary.
Cornering light function
Special headlamps fulfil the cornering light
function. In tight corners, they light up the
area of the road into which you are turning.
Make sure the engine is running.
Make sure that the dipped-beam head-
lamps are switched on when it is dark
( page 247).
i
If you are driving slower than 40 km/h, the
cornering light function is switched on by both
the turn signal and the turning of the steering
wheel. When driving at speeds of between
40 km/h and 70 km/h, the cornering light func-
tion is only switched on by turning the steering
wheel. Above 70 km/h, the cornering light func-
tion is switched off.
To switch on: switch on the turn signal
with the combination switch
( page 257).
250
The cornering light on the side of the
turn signal goes on.
or
Turn the steering wheel in the desired
direction.
The cornering light on the side of the
car closest to the corner goes on.
i
If you switch on the turn signal for one side,
but turn the steering wheel in the other direction,
the cornering light will go on on the side of the
turn signal.
i
If you turn the steering wheel in one direc-
tion and then immediately turn it in the other, the
cornering lights on both sides of the vehicle will
be switched on temporarily at the same time.
i
The cornering light on the outside of the
bend goes on if you engage reverse gear. The
turn signal has no effect on the cornering light.
To switch off: switch off the turn sig-
nal with the combination switch.
The cornering light goes out.
or
Turn the steering wheel back to the
straight-ahead position.
i
The cornering light function remains on until
you switch off the turn signal, even if the steering
wheel is in the straight-ahead position.
The cornering light function may remain on for a
short time. The cornering light function remains
on for a maximum of three minutes. It is then
switched off even if the turn signal is still
switched on or you have turned the steering
wheel to full lock.
Motorway mode
Motorway mode improves the illumination
of the road by:
controlling the brightness
adjusting the headlamp range
switching on a motorway spotlight
i
The motorway spotlight is switched on if you
are driving faster than 110 km/h and do not
make any large steering movements for approxi-
mately 1,000 m. Your vehicle then has two addi-
tional light sources on the inside of the
headlamp.
1 On vehicles with Night View Assist, the motorway
spotlight is replaced by the infrared light source.
