Care
The value of your vehicle will be retained by
regular and proper care. The best way to
protect your vehicle from harmful environ-
mental influences is to wash it and use pro-
tective treatments regularly.
Mercedes-Benz recommends that you
treat the paintwork twice a year (e.g. in
spring and in autumn).
i
It is advisable to use Mercedes-Benz care
products. They are designed specifically for
Mercedes-Benz vehicles and represent the state
of the art. Mercedes-Benz care products are
available from any Mercedes-Benz Service
Centre.
Scratches, corrosive deposits, areas af-
fected by corrosion and damage caused by
neglect or inadequate care cannot always
be completely repaired. In such cases, visit
a qualified specialist workshop immediate-
ly, e.g. a Mercedes-Benz Service Centre.
Repair damage caused by loose chippings
and remove the following immediately:
Insect remains
Bird droppings
Tree resin
394
Oils and grease
Fuel
Tar stains
G
Risk of poisoning
Always follow the instructions for using the
care products.
Always keep care products tightly closed
and out of the reach of children.
H
Environmental note
Dispose of empty containers, cleaning
cloths and polishing wads in an environmen-
tally responsible manner.
!
Do not affix:
unsuitable stickers
films
magnetic plates or similar
to painted surfaces, otherwise you could dam-
age the paintwork.
Care of the vehicle
!
Do not park the vehicle immediately for an
extended period after cleaning, particularly after
cleaning the wheels with wheel cleaner. Wheel
cleaners may lead to increased corrosion on
brake discs and brake pads/linings. Generally
park the vehicle at operating temperature after
cleaning.
Automatic car wash
You can clean the vehicle in an automatic
car wash from the very start, but preferably
one with high-pressure washer jets.
Do not use a brush-free automatic car
wash that uses chemical agents to wash
the vehicle.
If the vehicle is very dirty, prewash it be-
fore you drive into the car wash.
!
Make sure that the windscreen wiper switch
is set to M ( page 253), otherwise the rain
sensor could be activated, for example, and trig-
ger inadvertent wiper sweeps. This could result
in damage to the vehicle.
After using an automatic car wash, wipe off
wax or other chemical residues from the
windscreen. This will prevent smearing.
