Risk of accident
The vehicle is braked when HOLD is activat-
ed. Therefore, deactivate HOLD before the
vehicle is washed in an automatic car wash.

Make sure that the automatic car wash is
suitable for the size of the vehicle. Fold in the ex-
terior mirrors before the vehicle is washed. The
exterior mirrors could otherwise be damaged.

After leaving the automatic car wash make
sure that the mirrors are folded out fully. Other-
wise, they could vibrate.
High-pressure cleaners
!
Do not use high-pressure cleaners with
round-spray jets to clean the tyres, as they could
damage them. Replace damaged tyres.
Observe the information issued by the
equipment manufacturer relating to
how much distance should be main-
tained between the vehicle and the
nozzle of the high-pressure cleaner.
Move the high-pressure cleaner nozzle
around when cleaning your vehicle.

When doing so, do not point it directly at
door joints, air spring bellows, electrical compo-
nents, connectors, lamps or seals.
Cleaning the wiper blades and the
outside of the windscreen
Vehicle with key
Turn the key to position 1 in the ignition
lock.
Set the windscreen wipers to position
u on the combination switch
( page 253).
Turn the key to position 0 or remove it
when the wiper arms are vertical.
Vehicles with KEYLESS GO*
Switch off the engine.
Remove your foot from the brake ped-
al.
Set the windscreen wipers to position
u on the combination switch
( page 253).
Press the KEYLESS GO button repeat-
edly until the windscreen wipers start.
Press the KEYLESS GO button when
the wiper arms are vertical.

Risk of injury
Before cleaning the windscreen or wiper
blades, switch the ignition to 0. The wind-
screen wipers may otherwise move and in-
jure you.

Only fold the windscreen wipers away from
the windscreen when vertical, otherwise you will
damage the bonnet.
Fold the wiper arms away from the
windscreen until you feel them engage.
Clean the windscreen and the wiper
blades.
Fold the windscreen wipers back again
before switching on the ignition.
Cleaning the windows
!
Do not use dry cloths, abrasive products,
solvents or cleaning agents containing solvents
to clean the inside of the windows. Do not touch
the inside of the rear and side windows with hard
objects, e.g. ice scrapers or jewellery. You could
otherwise damage the windows.
