Practical advice
Towing

Switch off the automatic locking feature be-
fore the vehicle is towed ( page 208). You
could otherwise become locked out when push-
ing or towing the vehicle.

Only secure the tow cable or towing bar to
the towing eyes, you may otherwise damage the
vehicle.
Fitting the towing eye
Opening the front cover

Press the mark on cover 1 backwards
in the direction of the arrow.
Remove cover 1.

Press the mark on cover 1 backwards
in the direction of the arrow.
Remove cover 1.
Securing the towing eye
Take the towing eye from the vehicle
tool kit ( page 401).
Screw in the towing eye clockwise to
the stop.
Insert the wheel wrench handle into the
towing eye and tighten.
Stow the wheel wrench in the vehicle
tool kit.
Towing the vehicle

Do not tow the vehicle further than 50 km.
Do not exceed a maximum towing speed of
50 km/h. Otherwise, you could damage the
transmission.
Switch on the ignition.

You will have to use the ignition lock under-
neath the KEYLESS GO* button on vehicles with
KEYLESS GO* ( page 229).
Move the transmission selector lever
to N.
Removing the towing eye
Take the wheel wrench out of the vehi-
cle tool kit ( page 401).
Insert the wheel wrench handle into the
towing eye and loosen the towing eye.
Unscrew the towing eye.
Replace the cover and press it until it
engages.
Stow the towing eye in the vehicle tool
kit.
