Driving
If there is no vehicle in front, Distronic Plus
operates in the same way as cruise control
( page 290).
If Distronic Plus detects that the vehicle in
front is moving more slowly, it will cause
your vehicle to brake and thus maintain the
preset distance from the vehicle in front.
If Distronic Plus detects that the vehicle in
front is moving more quickly, it will cause
your vehicle to accelerate up to no more
than the stored speed.
G
Risk of accident
Depressing the brake pedal deactivates Dis-
tronic Plus, unless the vehicle is stationary.
Distronic Plus will then no longer cause your
vehicle to brake. You are responsible at all
times for your vehicle's distance from other
vehicles, the speed of your vehicle and for
braking in good time.

Risk of accident
Never get out of the vehicle when Distronic
Plus is activated.
Distronic Plus must never be operated or de-
activated by a passenger or from outside the
vehicle.
Distronic Plus does not replace the electric
parking brake and must not be used for
parking.
If you wish to leave the vehicle for a short
time or park it, deactivate Distronic Plus and
use the electric parking brake to secure the
vehicle against rolling away.
If Distronic Plus detects that the vehicle in
front has stopped, it will cause your vehicle
to brake and come to a halt.
Once your vehicle is stationary, it will re-
main so without you having to depress the
brake pedal.
i
Your vehicle will be secured with the electric
parking brake after a short time to relieve the
load on the service brake.
i
Depending on the specified minimum dis-
tance set using the thumbwheel on the cruise
control lever, your vehicle will come to a halt
within a distance of approximately 4 m from the
vehicle in front.
