G
Risk of accident
The reversing camera is only an aid and may
distort perspective, show objects inaccu-
rately or not show them at all. The reversing
camera does not relieve you of the responsi-
bility to pay attention. The camera may not
show objects in the following areas:
Very close to the rear bumper
Under the rear bumper
Above the boot lid handle
You are always responsible for safety and
must continue to pay attention to your im-
mediate surroundings when parking and
manoeuvring. This applies to the area be-
hind, in front of and beside the vehicle. Oth-
erwise, you could endanger yourself and
others.
G
Risk of injury
Make sure that no persons or animals are
in the manoeuvring range. Otherwise, they
could be injured.
G
Risk of accident
The reversing camera does not function or
its functions are restricted if:
the boot lid is open
it is raining very hard, snowing or foggy
it is night time or you are driving your ve-
hicle in a very dark area
the camera is exposed to very bright
white light
your immediate surroundings are illumi-
nated with fluorescent light, e.g. from
fluorescent tubes (the display may flick-
er)
there is a very sudden change in temper-
ature, e.g. if you drive into a heated ga-
rage from the cold in winter
the camera lens is dirty or covered
the rear of your vehicle is damaged. If
this is the case, have the position and
setting of the camera checked at a qual-
ified specialist workshop.
Mercedes-Benz recommends that you
use a Mercedes-Benz Service Centre for
this purpose
Driving systems
Operation of the reversing camera may be
limited on icy, slippery and snow-covered
roads. The vehicle may slip and thereby
leave its calculated route.
Do not use the reversing camera in such
situations. You could otherwise injure other
people during parking or damage objects
and your vehicle.
If you fit other wheels or tyres to your vehi-
cle, this could prevent the reversing camera
from working correctly. Therefore, get infor-
mation in advance from a Mercedes-Benz
Service Centre.
Switching on the reversing camera
Make sure the ignition is switched on.
Make sure that the "Automatic in R
gear" setting for the reversing camera
is selected in the instrument cluster
( page 285).
Engage reverse gear.
The area behind the vehicle is shown in
the COMAND display with guide lines
for the most recently selected parking
function.
