If the windows are still misted up:
To switch on demisting: press the
; rocker switch up or down.

You should only retain this setting until the
windscreen is cleared again.
Windscreen misted up on the outside
Switch on the windscreen wipers
( page 253).
Make sure that automatic mode is
switched on ( page 338).
Rear window heating

Risk of accident
Clear all windows of ice or snow before set-
ting off. Impaired visibility could otherwise
endanger yourself and others.
The rear window heating only comes on at
low temperatures if the interior is warmed.
The rear window heating is switched off au-
tomatically after a certain time. The heat-
ing time depends on the outside
temperature and the driving conditions.

The rear window heating has a high current
draw. You should therefore switch off the heat-
ing as soon as the rear window is clear.
To switch on: make sure the ignition is
switched on.
Press the < rocker switch up or
down ( page 336).
The indicator lamp in the rocker switch
comes on.
To switch off: press the < rocker
switch up or down ( page 336).
The indicator lamp in the rocker switch
goes out.

If the battery voltage is too low, the rear win-
dow heating may switch off.
Air-recirculation mode
You can switch off the flow of fresh air if
unpleasant smells are entering the vehicle
from outside. No more fresh air will be tak-
en in and the air inside the vehicle will be
recirculated.
Automatic air conditioning

Risk of accident
Only switch over to air-recirculation mode
briefly if the outside temperature is below
5 °C. Otherwise, the windows could mist up,
thus impairing visibility and endangering
yourself and others. This may prevent you
from observing the traffic conditions, there-
by causing an accident.
To switch on or off: press the ,
rocker switch up or down.
The indicator lamp in the rocker switch
comes on or goes out.

Air-recirculation mode switches off auto-
matically:
after approximately five minutes at outside
temperatures below approximately 5 °C
after approximately five minutes if the cool-
ing function is switched off ( page 212)
after approximately 30 minutes at outside
temperatures above approximately 5 °C
