Distronic inoperative
the necessary specialist knowledge and
tools to carry out the work required.
Mercedes-Benz recommends that you use a
Mercedes-Benz Service Centre for this pur-
pose.
Possible cause/consequence
Distronic* is deactivated and is tempo-
rarily not operational.
Distronic* is deactivated if:
the Distronic* cover in the radiator
grille is dirty
its function is impaired as a result of
heavy precipitation or fog
its radar sensor system is tempo-
rarily not operational, e.g. due to
electromagnetic radiation
the radar sensor system* does not
detect any vehicles or stationary
objects, e.g. markers, for a long
time
the system has overheated
Distronic* is faulty.
Practical advice
Display messages
In particular, work relevant to safety or on
safety-related systems must be carried out
at a qualified specialist workshop. There is a
risk of an accident and injury if this work is
carried out incorrectly.
Possible solution
Clean the Distronic* cover in the radiator
grille ( page 396).
Wait until the system has cooled down if
necessary.
Restart the vehicle.
Distronic* will be operational again without
you needing to restart the engine if:
the dirt (e.g. slush) loosens while you are
driving
the system detects that the sensors are
fully available again
the message in the multi-function display
disappears
You can operate Distronic* again in the usual
way.
Have Distronic* checked at a qualified
specialist workshop.
