Power closing
The power closing pulls the doors and boot
lid into the locks automatically, even if they
are not fully closed.

Risk of injury
Make sure that nobody can become trapped
as you close doors and the boot lid.
If there is a risk of entrapment, pull the in-
side or outside of the door handle or press
the boot lock.
Do not trigger the power closing by tamper-
ing with the lock mechanism. Otherwise,
you could be injured.

Risk of accident
You must make sure that doors are com-
pletely closed at all times. A door could oth-
erwise open while the vehicle is in motion
and injure you or others.
Door power closing
Push the door into the lock beyond the
first detent.
The power closing pulls the door fully
closed.
Boot lid power closing
Gently push the boot lid closed.
The power closing pulls the boot lid ful-
ly closed.
Opening the doors from the inside
You can open a door from the inside at any
time, even if it has been locked.

Automatic locking
The vehicle will lock itself once you have
pulled away.
You can open a door from the inside at any
time, even if it has been locked.

The doors unlock automatically in the event
of an accident if the force of the impact exceeds
a predetermined level.
The vehicle is locked automatically when the ig-
nition is switched on and the wheels begin to
turn. You could therefore lock yourself out when
the vehicle is being pushed or is on a dynamom-
eter.
You may switch off the automatic locking
function using COMAND ( page 208).
Locking and unlocking the vehicle
from the inside
You can lock or unlock the vehicle centrally
from the inside with the central locking or
unlocking button. This feature may be use-
ful if, for example, you wish to unlock the
front-passenger door from the inside or
lock the vehicle before pulling away.
