Auxiliary heating/ventilation*
The auxiliary heating heats or ventilates
the vehicle interior until the temperature
you have set using the temperature control
is reached.
i
You cannot use the auxiliary ventilation to
cool the vehicle interior to a lower temperature
than the outside temperature.
You can use COMAND and the remote con-
trol to set up to three switch-on times, one
of which may be selected at any one time
( page 214).
You can switch the auxiliary heating on and
off straight away using the button on the
centre console ( page 341) or the remote
control ( page 342).
G
Risk of fire and poisoning
Exhaust fumes are produced when the aux-
iliary heating is in operation. You should
therefore switch off the auxiliary heating in
confined spaces without an extraction sys-
tem, e.g. a garage.
Auxiliary heating operation is prohibited at
filling stations or when your vehicle is being
refuelled. You must therefore switch off the
auxiliary heating at filling stations.
If you have switched on the auxiliary heat-
ing using the remote control or the button
on the centre console, it will switch off
automatically after 50 minutes. You can
have this time changed. To do this, visit
a qualified specialist workshop, e.g. a
Mercedes-Benz Service Centre.
i
The tank must be at least full to the reserve
fuel level to ensure that the auxiliary heating
functions.
i
The auxiliary heating or ventilation automat-
ically adjusts to changes in the temperature and
the weather conditions. For this reason, the aux-
iliary heating could switch over from ventilation
mode to heating mode or from heating mode to
ventilation mode.
Before switching on
It is preferable to set the air condition-
ing to automatic mode ( page 338).
i
The auxiliary heating or ventilation can also
be switched on manually. However, optimum
comfort can only be obtained when the automat-
ic air conditioning is in automatic mode.
Auxiliary heating/ventilation*
Set the interior temperature to the de-
sired value ( page 338).
The auxiliary heating or ventilation
automatically adjusts to the set tem-
perature.
i
It is best to set the temperature to 22 °C.
