Practical advice
Flat tyre
G
Risk of accident
Have the tightening torque checked immedi-
ately after a wheel is changed. The wheels
could work loose if they are not tightened to
a torque of 150 Nm.
Turn the jack back to the out-of-use po-
sition.
Stow the wheel wrench, centring pin
and jack in the vehicle tool kit in the
boot.
MOExtended run-flat system*
The MOExtended run-flat system may only
be used in combination with the tyre pres-
sure loss warning system.
!
The maximum distance you may drive in run-
flat mode depends on the load in the vehicle. It is
approximately 50 km if the vehicle is partially
laden and approximately 30 km if fully laden.
The maximum distance to be driven in run-flat
mode begins from the moment the tyre pressure
loss warning appears in the multi-function dis-
play.
You must not exceed a maximum speed of
80 km/h.

i
By using TIREFIT before starting the run-flat
mode, the maximum distance can be increased
considerably. If TIREFIT cannot seal the tyre due
to the type of damage, you may still continue
driving up to the maximum possible distance in
run-flat mode.
G
Risk of accident
The handling characteristics of your vehicle
deteriorate in run-flat mode, for example:
when cornering
when braking
when accelerating rapidly
You must therefore adapt your driving style
accordingly and avoid sudden changes in di-
rection or acceleration, as well as driving
over obstacles (kerbs, potholes, off-road).
This is particularly the case when the vehicle
is heavily laden.
The distance that can be driven in run-flat
mode depends to a large extent on the loads
exerted on the vehicle. It can therefore be
much less due to speed, load, driving ma-
noeuvres, road surface condition, outside
temperature, etc. or also greater if you drive
carefully.
Run-flat mode must be ended if:
you hear banging noises
the vehicle starts to shake
smoke is created and there is a smell of
rubber
®
ESP
is intervening constantly
there are tears in the side walls of the
tyre
After driving in run-flat mode, you must have
the wheel checked for damage at a qualified
specialist workshop which has the neces-
sary specialist knowledge and tools to carry
out the work required. The faulty tyre must
always be replaced.
Mercedes-Benz recommends that you use a
Mercedes-Benz Service Centre for this pur-
pose. In particular, work relevant to safety
or on safety-related systems must be car-
ried out at a qualified specialist workshop.
i
If you change one or all of the tyres, make
sure that you only use tyres labelled "MOExtend-
ed" in the size specified for the vehicle.
