Possible Cause
The patient's SpO is outside
2
the current upper or lower alarm
limits.
The patient's pulse rate is
outside the current upper or
lower alarm limits.
The patient's SpO is below the
2
current lower alarm limit by 20%
or more.
The pulse rate is outside the
measuring range of the monitor
Too much light is reaching the
sensor's light detector. This
condition usually occurs
because the sensor is off the
finger or because too much
ambient light is detected.
The monitor does not recognize
the sensor connected as valid.
A persistent artifact is detected.
Pulse amplitude is too low due
to one of the following
conditions:
• Poor perfusion (shock).
• Low body temperature.
The monitor has not been able
to compute a valid measurement
within the last 30 seconds
because of unstable
measurement conditions.

Suggested Action
Check the patient and treat, if necessary.
• Make sure that the sensor is properly
attached to the patient's finger.
• Remove the light source.
• Cover the sensor with opaque material.
• Make sure that no ambient light can
reach the detector.
• Contact DrägerService.
• Check for a defective or unapproved
sensor.
• Replace the sensor.
• Contact the hospital's technical
personnel or DrägerService.
• Make sure the SpO
attached to the patient, patient is not
moving, and all cables are properly
connected.
• Contact DrägerService.
• Check the patient and treat, if
necessary.
• Make sure the SpO
attached to the patient and all cables
are properly connected.
• Relocate the sensor to another
extremity.
• Contact DrägerService.
• Make sure the SpO
attached to the patient at a site free of
patient motion and all cables are
properly connected.
• Contact DrägerService.
