Serial port
1. Select the device in Remote Manager and click Actions > Open Console, or log into the IX30
local command line as a user with full Admin access rights.
Depending on your device configuration, you may be presented with an Access selection
menu. Type admin to access the Admin CLI.
2. At the command line, type config to enter configuration mode:
> config
(config)>
3. Set the signalling mode to rs-485:
(config)> serial port1 signal_mode rs-485
(config)>
If this is the end device along a cabled RS-485 daisy chain and termination resistors are
recommended, enable an internal electrical termination:
(config)> serial port1 termination true
(config)>
4. Save the configuration and apply the change:
(config)> save
Configuration saved.

5. Type exit to exit the Admin CLI.
Depending on your device configuration, you may be presented with an Access selection
menu. Type quit to disconnect from the device.
Advanced RealPort configuration without using the Digi
Navigator
You can configure the IX30 to communicate with your computer using RealPort.

Windows Operating System

This method can be used if your computer has a Windows OS installed and you choose not to use the
Digi Navigator
to discover devices and configure RealPort.
To complete the RealPort configuration process for Windows:
Step 1:
Download the RealPort driver
Step 2:
Configure RealPort on your laptop
Step 3:
Configure the serial port for RealPort mode
Step 4:
Configure the RealPort service

Linux Operating System

To complete the RealPort configuration process for Linux OS:
Step 1:
Download the RealPort driver
