Adjusting the start-in-gear
protection cable
Make sure to remove the clip from the
engine shut-off switch before checking
the start-in-gear protection.
1. Move the shift lever to the N position.
2. Loosen the locknut 1, and then align the
cable end a with the mark b on the
manual starter cover by turning the
adjusting nut 2.
3. Tighten the locknut 1.

4. Check that the starter handle can be
pulled.
5. Move the shift lever to the F or R posi-
tion.
6. Check that the starter handle cannot be
pulled.

Measuring the starter rope

1. Pull the starter handle to extend the
starter rope completely, and then mea-
sure the starter rope extended length a.
