Checking the pulser coil

1. Measure the pulser coil output peak volt-
age.

TIP:
• When measuring the output peak voltage
under the cranking condition, remove the
clip from the engine shut-off switch to pre-
vent the engine from starting.
• When measuring the output peak voltage
under the unloaded condition, disconnect
the pulser coil connectors a.
• When pulling the starter handle to crank the
engine, the voltage values may vary
depending on the speed at which the
starter handle is pulled. (Manual starter
model)
2. Disconnect the pulser coil connectors a.
3. Measure the pulser coil resistance.
Pulser coil resistance (reference data):
White/Red (W/R)–Black (B)
152.0–228.0 Ω at 20 °C (68 °F)

4. Connect the pulser coil connectors.

Checking the charge coil

1. Disconnect the charge coil coupler a,
and then connect the special service tool
1.
2. Measure the charge coil output peak volt-
age.

TIP:
• When measuring the output peak voltage
