Example:
If (M3) is 28.30 mm and "P" is (+5), then
(T3) = 28.30 – 27.00 – (+5)/100 mm
= 28.30 – 27.00 – 0.05 mm
= 1.25 mm
If (M3) is 28.43 mm and "P" is (–3), then
(T3) = 28.43 – 27.00 – (–3)/100 mm
= 28.43 – 27.00 + 0.03 mm
= 1.46 mm
TIP:
"P" is the deviation of the lower case dimen-
sion from standard. The "P" mark c is
stamped on the anode mounting surface of
the lower case in 0.01 mm units. If the "P"
mark is unreadable, assume that "P" is zero
and measure the backlash when the unit is
assembled.

0.7, 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, 1.6 mm
Example:
If (T3) is 1.25 mm, then the pinion shim is 1.3
mm.
If (T3) is 1.46 mm, then the pinion shim is 1.5
mm.

Selecting the forward gear shim

Select the forward gear shims using the mea-
surement(s) and calculation formula.
1. Turn the taper roller bearing outer race
1 2 or 3 times to seat the rollers.
2. Measure the bearing height (M1) at 4

Calculation formula:
Example:
If (M1) is 16.32 mm and "F" is (–3), then
(T1) = 17.50 + (–3)/100 – 16.32 mm
If (M1) is 16.25 mm and "F" is (+5), then
(T1) = 17.50 + (+5)/100 – 16.25 mm
points, and then calculate the average.

ness (T1).
Forward gear shim thickness (T1) =
17.50 + F/100 – M1
= 17.50 – 0.03 – 16.32 mm
= 1.15 mm
= 17.50 + 0.05 – 16.25 mm
= 1.30 mm
