Installing the power unit (tiller
handle model)
Make sure to install the shift rod and shift link
onto the bottom cowling before installing the
power unit. See "Shift link and shift rod" (9-
11).
Do not reuse a gasket, always replace it
with a new one.
1. Install the power unit. See steps 1–7 in
"Installing the power unit (remote control
model)" (7-17).
2. Connect the PTT switch coupler. (PTT
model) See step 8 in "Installing the
power unit (remote control model)" (7-
17).
3. Connect the engine shut-off switch
ground lead a.
4. Connect the engine shut-off switch con-
nector b.

5. Connect the alert indicator coupler c.
6. Connect the engine start button connec-
tors d. (Electric starter model)
7. Connect the PTT motor leads. (PTT
model) See steps 10–12 in "Installing the
power unit (remote control model)" (7-
17).
8. Connect the battery lead connector, bat-
tery lead, and battery cables. (Electric
starter model) See steps 13 and 14 in
"Installing the power unit (remote control
model)" (7-17).
9. Connect
cable. See step 2 in "Installing the man-
ual starter" (7-10).
10. Connect the throttle cables 1.
TIP:
To adjust the throttle cables, see "Adjusting
a
the throttle cable (tiller handle model)" (9-6).
11. Install the grommet 2 and rigging grom-
met 3, and then install the grommet
holders 4 and 5.

TIP:

Make sure that there is no slack in the throttle
cables in the bottom cowling.
