Removing the manual starter

1. Disconnect the start-in-gear protection
cable 1.
2. Remove the manual starter.

Disassembling the manual starter

1. Remove the cover 1.
2. While holding the starter rope 2, turn the
sheave drum 3 clockwise until there is
no tension in the spiral spring.

TIP:
Push the starter plunger 4 away from the
sheave drum 3 while turning the sheave
drum.
3. Remove the drive plate 5 and drive pawl
spring 1 6.

4. Remove the sheave drum 3.
5. Remove the spiral spring 7. WARNING!
The spiral spring 7 can pop out.
Cover the spiral spring with rags
when removing it.
6. Remove the starter rope 2 and screw
8, and then remove the drive pawl 9,
drive pawl spring 2 0, and spring A.

7. Remove the springs B and C, starter
plunger 4, start-in-gear protection cable
D, and grommet E.
