2. Measure the commutator diameter a.
Replace the armature assembly if below
specification.

PTT motor commutator standard diameter:
16.3 mm (0.64 in)
Wear limit: 14.9 mm (0.59 in)
3. Measure the commutator undercut b.
Replace the armature if below specifica-
tion.
Commutator standard undercut b:
1.3 mm (0.05 in)
Wear limit: 0.6 mm (0.02 in)
4. Check the armature
Replace the armature assembly if out of
specification.

Armature continuity:

5. Check the bearing. Replace the armature
assembly if damaged.

Checking the brush

1. Measure the length of each brush.
Replace if below specification.
Motor brush standard length a:
7.5 mm (0.30 in)
Wear limit b: 5.1 mm (0.20 in)

Assembling the PTT motor

• Do not reuse an oil seal or O-rings,
always replace it with new one.
• Do not apply grease or oil to the com-
mutator of the armature.
