Checking the diaphragm and valve

1. Check the diaphragm 1. Replace if torn.
2. Check the valves a. Replace fuel pump
body 2 2 if cracked, deformed, or worn.

Assembling the fuel pump

Before assembling the fuel pump, clean the
parts and soak the valves and diaphragm in
gasoline to obtain prompt operation of the
fuel pump.
1. Install the diaphragm 1, springs 2 and
3, and plunger 4.

2. Align the hole a in the diaphragm 1 with
the hole b in the plunger 4 by pushing
the plunger and diaphragm.
3. Install the pin 5.
4. Turn fuel pump body 1 6 so that both
the diaphragm tab c and the slot d face
the same direction.
