TIP:
• When measuring the output peak voltage
under the cranking condition, remove the
clip from the engine shut-off switch to pre-
vent the engine from starting.
• When measuring the output peak voltage
under the unloaded condition, disconnect
the special service tool coupler b.
• When pulling the starter handle to crank the
engine, the voltage values may vary
depending on the speed at which the
starter handle is pulled. (Manual starter
model)
4. Measure the lighting coil resistance.
Lighting coil resistance (reference data):
0.21–0.29 Ω at 20 °C (68 °F)
5. Remove the special service tool 1, and
then connect the lighting coil coupler.
6. Install the manual starter. See "Installing
the manual starter" (7-10). (Manual
starter model)
Install the flywheel magnet cover. (Elec-
tric starter model)

reverse, the Rectifier Regulator can be
damaged.
1. Remove the flywheel magnet cover.
2. Slide the grommet a away from the Rec-

TIP:
• Measure the Rectifier Regulator output
peak voltage with the coupler b con-
nected.
• Do not use peak voltage adapter B measur-
ing the Rectifier Regulator output peak volt-
age.
4. Fit the grommet a into the Rectifier Reg-
ulator coupler b.
5. Disconnect the Rectifier Regulator cou-
plers.
6. Check the Rectifier Regulator for conti-
nuity. Replace if out of specification.
