9. Remove the cap b.
10. Push the pinion stopper c down using a
pipe 0, and then remove the clip d.

f: 11.0 mm (0.43 in)
11. Remove the pinion stopper g, clutch
assembly A and outer gear B.

Checking the armature (starter

1. Check the commutator. Clean with 600–

2. Measure the commutator diameter a.
Commutator standard diameter:
Wear limit: 28.8 mm (1.13 in)

grit sandpaper and compressed air if
dirty.
Replace the armature if below specifica-
tion.
