2. Check the spark plug. Replace if the
electrodes are eroded, there is carbon or
other deposits.
3. Check the spark plug gap b. Replace if
out of specification.
Specified spark plug: DPR6EB-9 (NGK)
Spark plug gap b:
0.8–0.9 mm (0.031–0.035 in)

Checking the cylinder head anode

1. Check the anodes. Replace if eroded.
Clean if there is grease, oil, or scales.
NOTICE: Do not apply grease, oil, or
paint to the anodes.

Assembling the cylinder head

Do not reuse a gasket, oil seal, O-ring, or
valve seal, always replace it with a new
one.
1. Install a new valve seal 1.

2. Install the valve 2, valve spring seat 3,
valve spring 4, and valve spring retainer
5 in this order, and then attach the spe-
cial service tools 6 and 7.

90890-04019
Valve spring compressor attachment 7:
90890-06320
TIP:
Face the wide-pitched valve spring end a,
identified by the paint mark, toward the valve
spring retainer 5.
3. Compress the valve spring, and then
install the valve cotters 8.
