6. Tighten the center bolt 2 to the specified
torque while holding the drive shaft to
prevent it from turning.

Center bolt 2 (shimming):
5 N·m (0.5 kgf·m, 3.7 ft·lb)
7. Turn the lower unit upright.
8. Install the special service tool 4 at the
lowest possible position.
9. Wrap 5 layers of tape 5 around the drive
shaft.
Backlash indicator 4: 90890-06706
10. Install the handle stopper 6 so that it is
resting on the tape 5, and then tighten
the nuts a to the specified torque.

2 N·m (0.2 kgf·m, 1.5 ft·lb)
11. Install the special service tools 7, 8,
and 9, and then install the special ser-
vice tool 0 to apply a load.

Dial gauge set 7: 90890-01252
Magnet base B 8: 90890-06844
Magnet base plate 9: 90890-07003
Pinion height gauge 0: 90890-06668
12. Slowly turn the drive shaft clockwise and
counterclockwise, and then measure the
backlash at the position where it stops in
each direction.
