TIP:
"F" is the deviation of the lower case dimen-
sion from standard. The "F" mark a is
stamped on the anode mounting surface of
the lower case in 0.01 mm units. If the "F"
mark is unreadable, assume that "F" is zero
and check the backlash when the unit is
assembled.
4. Select the forward gear shims.

Available shim thicknesses:
1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4 mm
Example:
If (T1) is 1.15 mm, then the forward gear
shim is 1.1 mm.
If (T1) is 1.30 mm, then the forward gear
shim is 1.2 mm.

Selecting the reverse gear shim

Select the shims using the measurements
and calculation formula.
• Use heat-resistant gloves. Otherwise,
burns could result.
• To prevent fires, remove any flammable
substances, such as gasoline and oil,
around the working area.
• Keep good ventilation while working.
When heating the propeller shaft housing,
heat the entire installation area evenly.
Otherwise, the propeller shaft housing
could be damaged.

1. Heat the installation area of the reverse
gear ball bearing 1 in the propeller shaft
housing 2 using a gas torch, and then
install the ball bearing.

2. Measure the propeller shaft housing
height (M2) at 4 points, and then calcu-
late the average.
