Removing the carburetor

1. Disconnect the fuel hose 1 and blowby
hose 2.

2. Disconnect the throttle link rod 3.
3. Disconnect the Prime Start coupler a.
4. Remove the intake silencer 4, carbure-
tor 5, gasket 6, joint 7, and gasket 8,
and then remove the intake manifold 9,
and gasket 0.

Disassembling the carburetor

1. Disassemble the carburetor. See "Carbu-
retor" (6-10).

Checking the carburetor

1. Check that the throttle valve operates
smoothly.
2. Check the air and fuel passages and jets.
Clean the carburetor body if there is dirt
or foreign material.
3. Blow compressed air into all passages
and jets. WARNING! When using com-
pressed air, wear safety glasses or
safety goggles. Otherwise, eye injury
could result from flying debris or liq-
uid.
4. Check the main jet, pilot jet, and main
nozzle. Clean if there is dirt or residue.
NOTICE: Do not use steel wire to
clean the jets. Otherwise, the jet diam-
eters could be enlarged, which could
seriously affect performance.
5. Check the needle valve. Replace if worn
or deformed.
6. Check the float. Replace if cracked or
deformed.
7. Measure the float height a. Replace the
float 1 or needle valve if out of specifica-
tion.
